Student Life
Being an enrolled student at New York College of Health Professions offers a unique opportunity to learn in an environment where faculty and staff are committed to helping every student succeed. The College provides comprehensive support services designed to keep students focused on completing their degrees and becoming licensed practitioners.
The Office of Student Services is the central resource for enrolled students. Student Services coordinates tutoring for students who need additional academic support, advises students during registration and the add/drop period, handles student complaints and grievances, schedules meetings of the Committee of Academic Policy and Student-Faculty Committee, coordinates New Student Orientation and Graduation, receives and investigates all Title IX incidents, and arranges reasonable accommodations for students with a 504 plan.
Student Services works closely with both the academic and enrollment departments to provide clear resolution to any student issues at the College. To file a complaint or grievance, students may obtain an incident report from Student Services or email student.services@nycollege.edu. All complaints and grievances are kept strictly confidential.
Bookstore
The College bookstore carries all required student texts, along with a wide selection of books and educational materials covering many aspects of holistic health. The bookstore also stocks uniforms, logo merchandise, face cradle cushions, massage tables, acupuncture needles, moxa, massage oils and creams, and other professional supplies.
Herbal Dispensary
The Herbal Dispensary carries a variety of herbal products constituting a traditional Chinese herbal formula pharmacy. These include raw herb materials, prepared materials in pill, powder, tincture, extract, and topical forms, as well as homeopathic remedies and nutritional supplements. Products are dispensed only after consultation and recommendation from a clinic health care professional. The herbal dispensary is open to the community.
Steve Kaufman Library
The Steve Kaufman Library, located on the Syosset campus, contains the most extensive collection of holistic medicine materials available on Long Island. The collection includes books, anatomical models, journals, multimedia, and online resources specializing in acupuncture, herbal medicine, and massage therapy. The library is open to students, staff, faculty, alumni, clinical patients, and those conducting research.
Wireless internet is available throughout the library, and networked computer workstations provide access to the library catalog, email, and Microsoft Office Suite. Online subscriptions include full-text research article databases focusing on holistic approaches to health care and medicine. A tutoring room is available for one-on-one assistance and small study groups. The College library is a member of the Long Island Library Resources Council and MEDLI.
