New York College in Luo Yang, China
in September 2002, the first group of students and faculty from the School of Massage Therapy traveled to China for an intensive travel and clinical observation program at our new facility in China. This 3 week program, which included travel to many historic sights as well as an immersion into the Chinese culture and the background of Traditional Chinese Medicine, was the first of many scheduled in the coming year. Students from all Academic Programs are eligible to travel abroad to our facility in China and these programs may be covered by financial aid.
New York College produces a weekly radio show called "CAM 4 LIFE".
This live call-in show, broadcast every Saturday morning, covers topics from Acupuncture to Yoga and answers listeners questions about Complementary and Alternative Medicine. Produced by the College and hosted by Robert Duarte, MD, this weekly radio show features guests, including faculty, to discuss topical subjects on Health and Complementary and Alternative Medicine in conjunction with Western medicine.
New Herbal Clinic Opens
The New York College is pleased to announce the opening of a new Oriental Herbal Clinic. This clinic offers professional half-hour herbal consultations to patients at a discounted fee. These consultations are observed by a small group of Oriental Medicine students. Consultations include a medical intake, a review of the patient's current symptoms, as well as observation of the patient's tongue and pulses. After the intake, the practitioner writes a prescription, which may be in the form of an herbal tea, concentrated powder, or tablets. Prescriptions can be filled at our on-site Herbal Dispensary. It is recommended that initially patients schedule appointments weekly to insure they are progressing satisfactorily. The initial or first visit fee for this clinic is $50. Follow-up visits are $30.
