SyosetLocated in the suburban community of Syosset, New York, on the north shore of Long Island, New York College is a modern, 70,000 square foot facility designed to be both comfortable and functional for students, faculty, patients and staff.

Within the facility are classrooms for all educational programs, Hatha Yoga, Qi Gong and T'ai Chi decks, the Integrative Health Center, the Academic Health Care Teaching Clinics, an herbal dispensary, the Steve Kaufman Library, a computer lab, café and bookstore, student study room and lounge, and executive and administrative offices

Classrooms

Classrooms are designed and used specifically for lecture or technique work and contain computers and projectors for instruction. The Hatha Yoga, Qi Gong and T'ai Chi deck is specifically designed with space, light and quiet for the practice of these physical arts.

Teaching Clinics

The New York College Academic Health Care Teaching Clinics are an integral part of our students' educational experience. With over 20,000 patients treated annually, the clinics also play an important role in providing affordable Holistic health care to the community.

The Steve Kaufman Library, located within The New York College facility, contains the most extensive collection of materials about Holistic medicine available on Long Island. It is open to students, faculty, staff and the general public.
The library houses an ever growing collection of anatomical models, books, magazines and journals, specializing in Oriental medicine, acupuncture, herbal medicine, massage therapy, and Holistic nursing. Cooperative agreements with hospital and medical school libraries provide an invaluable resource for obtaining additional material. Videocassettes, DVDs, CDs and CD-ROMS are also available for loan and in-library use.
Several networked workstations provide OPAC access, access to the Internet, e-mail, word-processing, and spreadsheet applications. Online indexes to professional periodical literature include subscriptions to Gale's Health Reference Center - Academic which contains (in electronic form) periodical literature, reference books, and pamphlets. Alt-HealthWatch, a data bank of complete articles from periodicals, focuses on Holistic approaches to health care and medicine.
A reserve tutoring room is now available for one-on-one assistance and small study groups.

The Herbal Dispensary carries a full range of herbal products comprising a traditional Chinese Herbal Pharmacy including: raw herb materials and prepared medicines in pill, powder, tincture, extract and topical forms as well as homeopathic remedies and nutritional supplements. The dispensary which is open to the public fills prescriptions for Integrative Health Center and Teaching Clinic patients as well as providing hands-on pharmaceutical experience for student interns.

The Bookstore carries all required student texts, as well as a wide selection of books and educational materials covering many other aspects of Holistic health. New York College apparel is also available. The café, serving breakfast, lunch and dinner, provides a wide variety of nutritious foods and snacks for students, faculty, staff and patients.
